The station is proud of the support it continues to receive from the community and events such as this, which raised £180, can help to fund equipment and running costs, helping the station to ensure that the community has a voice and provide opportunities for local residents to gain valuable experience and transferable skills.
Compered by actor, musician and entertainer Andy Snowden, who is a volunteer presenter at Calon FM and a long-term supporter of the station, the eight-round quiz tested participants with a range of questions from music and television, geography and history to sport, general knowledge and - of course - Christmas.
There was also a raffle, with a great selection of prizes donated by local businesses, many based in nearby Tŷ Pawb.
Allan Longshadow, an Editor at Calon FM said:
“Events like this not only allow us to get out into the community and engage with our listeners, but also help us to raise the funds we need to continue delivering our service for the Wrexham community. We are extremely grateful to all those who contributed to our latest fundraiser for donating so generously.”
“We’d also like to give a special thank you to Adam Crump of AC Creative, who was not just a quiz team member, but was also kind enough to send us some images taken via his iPhone.”
Behind the scenes, work is underway to provide new studios that will allow new presenters to bring their voice to the station in the very near future. There will also be plenty of other opportunities such as technical and production roles.
